Fly-In RESORT The Lodge: Arguably some the best combo Pike and Lake trout fishing anywhere. This lodge is smaller, with only 12 guests each 5 or 9 day week during July and August. Many of the guests will catch the biggest fish of their lives during their stay at the lodge. Witnessing guests reaction when catching so many large fish on a daily basis never ceases to excite the present owner, truly an adventure for the guests of this lodge. Accommodations: The cabins are warm, dry and comfortable and sleep 2-3 people...cabins outfitted with hot showers, Carpeting, heat and electricity. The Fishing: The lake has Northern Pike, Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling. While we get more pike fishermen early in the season and more Trout fishermen later in the season, any of the 10 weeks the lodge is open will give the guests a good chance at a 20lb fish of either species. The present owners track the fish caught each year in the lake and can say that 20lb Northern Pike and Lake Trout are almost a daily occurrence. 25lb fish are not uncommon for the week and a number of 30lb fish are not uncommon for the season. There are NO FLY OUTS. All the fish caught are from the main lake. The lake is strictly catch and release and the owners ask the guests to use barbless hooks and at least 20lb test line. Lake Trout are caught by either casting or trolling in open water. The lake is 65 feet at its deepest, and most of the open water is less than 30 feet never requiring down riggers etc. for Lake Trout. Pike are caught in the bays casting into weeds and sometimes even sight casting for them. Arctic Grayling is a day trip to the river on the south end of the lake. NO need to leave the lake for exceptional trophy fishing, this lake provides all the trophy fishing the guests can handle, no need for expensive additional flights to other locations. 20 to 25 fish is usually a slow day, many fisherman find they catch more large fish on average than at any other lodge they have fished in the past. The Lodge This lodge is situated northeast of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories on the rocky and rugged Canadian Shield and is only accessible by float plane in the summer. Guests of the lodge will have the entire lake to explore, fish, eat and relax as there are no other resorts on the lake. Guests of the lodge truly enjoy this little corner in the boreal wilderness. Over the last three years the owner has upgraded to new boats, renovated all the cabins, installed new woodstoves, built a new addition to the main lodge with a screened deck and added many other upgrades and facelifts. Newer dock, boats and motors in 2005. In 2006 and 2007 renovations to the guest cabins, staff accommodation, kitchen, dining room, and the grounds were completed. The six hole par three golf coarse was fixed up, and the hot tub and gazebo were completed. A new 25 KW generator was added and the old 15 KW is now the standby generator. The internet satellite service was improved and appliances and wood stoves have been replaced. Full Turn-Key operation. The Accommodations There are three guest cabins at the Lodge, each consisting of a main room, two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, fireplace, kitchenette, fridge and a large screened in veranda. Each cabin can sleep up to six people Carpeting, heat and electricity are standard. The lake is well known for the excellent fishing and the lodge for the clean comfortable accommodations, and first class service. The Fishing This Lake has a very healthy fishery; the lake is 50km long (30 miles) and has over 800 islands, so there is lots of productive fish habitat. This Lodge is the only lodge on the lake so the guests have the entire lake to explore and find their favorite fishing holes. Boats 16 food Crestliner welded aluminum boats with 4 stroke motors, radios and fish finders. Guests can keep in touch with other boats and with the lodge over the radio system. Things for the guests to do: Fishing, hiking, sightseeing, golfing on the 6 hole boreal "golf course", viewing historical mining artifacts, picking berries, relaxing, socializing, viewing wildlife, playing horseshoes, swimming, sitting around a fire or enjoying the hot tub. If the guests want to do something other than catch a lot of fish, they can spend time hiking and exploring one of the abandoned gold mine sites in the area dating from the 1930's and 40's. If the guests have binoculars and a camera they may spot local wildlife. Guests have viewed wolves, moose, black bear, grizzly, bald eagles, golden eagles, otters, loons and lots of ducks. This Lodge is a great place for the whole family, young and old.
